My name is Monique Mayers, and I’m a Bajan-Canadian mom who wrote Wash Day: A Care and Style Guide for Little Curls to help my curly-haired toddler embrace her natural texture. After seeing how challenging wash days could be, I created this interactive, educational guide to turn the process into a fun and empowering experience for young children.

Wash Day is more than just a typical children's book—it's a hands-on guide that teaches young readers the importance of hair care and hygiene. Through colorful illustrations, playful rhymes, and step-by-step instructions, the book engages children while guiding them on how to wash and style their hair with confidence. What sets this book apart is its focus on fostering independence. After learning the washing process, children can choose their own hairstyle from a visual library, giving them the freedom to make decisions about their look.

This book was funded through Kickstarter and inspired by my journey as a mom making hair care a positive, enjoyable experience for my daughter. You can learn more about the project here.
